Consumer Disclosure & Health Records Policy

In compliance with Texas state law, including Texas Health and Safety Code Section 181.105 and the rules of the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC), this practice provides the following mandatory transparency disclosures for consumers and clients.

1. How to Request Your Health Care Records

Under Texas law, you have the right to access and request copies of your mental health records.

  • Processing time: Upon receiving your written authorization, our practice will process and respond to your request within 15 business days, as required by Texas state regulations.
  • Fees: A reasonable, cost-based fee may be charged for the retrieval, copying, and mailing of records, strictly adhering to the maximum limits set by Texas law.

3. How to File a Consumer Complaint

If you wish to file a formal complaint regarding billing, business practices, or consumer protection issues, you can do so through the Texas Office of the Attorney General:

  • Online Complaints: You may file a complaint online through the Texas Attorney General Consumer Complaint Portal.
  • Consumer Protection Hotline: (800) 621-0508
  • BHEC Disciplinary Complaints: For complaints specifically regarding professional ethics or licensing violations, you may also utilize the BHEC 24-hour toll-free complaint line at 1-800-821-3205.
